These fruit represent the first infection of PPV in Spain, June 1984. Infected plum fruit can be severely deformed. Such deformed fruit has no commercial value.

Healthy fruit on the left and PPV infected fruit on the right. Both may occur on the same tree. After a few years, once the virus has spread throughout the tree, all the fruit become infected.
