Magnesium deficiency at its severest may look similar to potassium deficiency with scorched leaf margins. More characteristic is a fading of the green color at the tips of the older leaves progressing towards the base and midrib of the leaves.

Calcium deficiency is rare in orchards but when present they appear as an upward cupping of the leaf margins in the younger leaves first.
